As Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 gears up for release in November, it looks like the development team isn’t just focused on the usual polish and finishing touches right now – they are also worried about players growing tired of the franchise.
That’s due to the fact that the new Black Ops title will arrive only a year after Black Ops 6, and this “back-to-back launch idea” is a first for the Call of Duty saga, which has always preferred to alternate its subseries over the years.
In a recent interview with CharlieIntel, Йель Миллер, Senior Director of Production at Treyarch, acknowledged that fans’ fatigue over similar games being released with little time between them is a significant concern for the studio.
“I think the honest answer is yes. I worry about that”, said Miller. “Obviously, there was a plan with the two Modern Warfare games and then this. We’ll see what the franchise does in the future. We’re excited about the opportunities it gave us, but we’d all be dead lying if we said we weren’t worried about that”.
Treyarch Plans Fresh Setting & Content to Combat Fatigue

However, it also appears that Treyarch is taking advantage of Black Ops 7’s unique setting in 2035 as a means to differentiate between the two titles (since Black Ops 6 has a ‘90s vibe), alongside tons of special content for its post-launch.
According to Miller, BO7 is “absolutely going to bring it” in terms of live seasons.
“We’re absolutely going to bring it from a content perspective in our live seasons. How can we have new gameplay experiences? More content, more maps, weeklies, with functional stuff like deeper weapon prestige experiences”, Miller concluded.
Luckily, we are not going to have to wait much to check all of this promising content, since Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will get a multiplayer beta next month (early access opens to everyone on October 5 and will run through October 8). The full release is slated for November 14 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
