Everything to get the most out of Totodile Community Day Classic!

Totodile is shuffling its way into March’s Community Day Classic — a reoccurring Покемон Go event that throws back to a past Community Day, increases the spawn rate for a specific Pokémon, while also boosting shiny rates and offering an exclusive move, along with a whole host of other bonuses!
The Big Jaw Pokémon clearly heard that we were celebrating the other crocodile starter Pokémon in March and got excited. But unlike Fuecoco Community Day earlier this month, Totodile Community Day Classic is a pared down event, hearkening back to the way things used to be.
In particular, it calls back to its first Community Day in Pokémon Go, giving you another crack at getting its Legacy Move, Hydro Cannon.
This event is also perfect for catching a Totodile with 100% perfect IV stats and, if you achieve this feat, it’s a good idea to know Feraligatr’s best moveset.
Even if you’re not fussed on this month’s Community Day Pokémon, there are a multiple other bonuses that may get you out and about, including the very useful quarter hatch distance

Totodile’s 100% perfect IV stats in Pokémon Go
March’s Community Day Classic is the perfect opportunity to find a Totodile with perfect IV stats in Pokémon Go.

For Totodile, the CP values which correspond to perfect 15/15/15 stats are as follows:
- Уровень 30 (максимум дикого CP) — 970 CP
- Уровень 35 (максимум CP, усиленный погодой) — 1051 CP
Totodile’s wild CP value aligns with your current Trainer Level until you reach Level 30, so, since the majority of the player base is above this level, we keep to these values for the sake of simplicity. If you’re currently beneath Level 30, however, these values will be different.
If you want to run Feraligatr in Go Battle League, you’re looking for different stats:
- A perfect Great League Feraligatr is 0/11/13, reaching CP 1499 at Level 20
- A perfect Ultra League Feraligatr is 1/15/14, reaching CP 2497 at Level 35.5
- A perfect Master League Feraligatr is 15/15/15, reaching CP 3230 at Level 50
This Community Day Classic lets you learn the move Hydro Cannon to when you evolve your Croconaw into a Feraligatr. This is fantastic — especially right now when Feraligatr is very well positioned in the meta. As you’ll see below, Hydro Cannon is not only one of the recommended moves, but vital to success in both Great League and Ultra League!
Totodile evolution chart: What does Totodile evolve into?
Totodile evolves into Croconaw, the… also Big Jaw Pokémon! Like with Fuecoco earlier this month, we definitely had to look up the name of this middle evolution, because none of them stick around long enough to be memorable. It’s mostly just a rubber stamp on the way to Feraligatr, a truly epic Pokémon.
Feraligatr might get a complex though, because it is also the Big Jaw Pokémon. Kinda feels like the Pokémon Company was short on ideas that day…
There’s not really much to say in terms of Totodile’s design — it’s a baby crocodile. Its name is a portmanteau of tot and crocodile — something that was conserved in the Japanese name, Waninoko. Вани is crocodile, нет is a grammar thing and ko means child.
If Totodile is a baby croc, Croconaw is clearly the boisterous teenager. The name, crocodile plus gnaw, shows just how offensive our chompy boi has become — so offensive in fact that its name was apparently censored on the Pokémon Black and White GTS! If you wanted to trade it, you’d have had to give it a nickname. Croconaw? More like Croco-hell-naw (sorry, not sorry).

This brings us to Feraligatr — it gave up on being a crocodile and decided to be an alligator instead. More power to you, Feraligatr, live your dream. If you’ve ever wondered why the feral alligator is conspicuously missing a vowel, it’s because the game had a 10-character limit on names! Talking of, it’s Japanese name, Ordile references its crocodilian nature. The Or bit is either large or king, it’s impossible to know from the way it is written!
If you want to read more on these awesome Pokémon, you can read all three entries below:
- Totodile — Its powerful, well-developed jaws are capable of crushing anything. Even its Trainer must be careful. This rough critter chomps at any moving object it sees. Turning your back on it is not recommended.
- Croconaw — The tips of its fangs are slanted backward. Once those fangs clamp down, the prey has no hope of escape. It opens its huge jaws wide to attack. If it loses fangs while biting, they’ll just keep on growing back, one after another.
- Feraligatr — Although it has a massive body, its powerful hind legs enable it to move quickly, even on land. When it bites with its massive and powerful jaws, it shakes its head and savagely tears its victim up.
March’s Community Day event runs between 2pm and 5pm (local time), so you’ll have three hours to gather as much Totodile Candy as possible.
If you’re hurting for Candy, use Pinap Berries and Silver Pinap Berries to double the amount of Candy you earn from catching, and make sure to have an Ice or Ground-type Pokémon Mega Evolved — Mega Swampert, Mega Blastoise or Primal Kyogre, for example.
Feraligatr moves and best moveset recommendation
No matter your league, we have a standout best moveset for your Feraligatr. But first, let’s look at the full move pool:

Feraligatr Fast Moves
- Ice Fang (Ice)
- Shadow Claw (Ghost)
- Water Gun (Legacy, Water)
- Waterfall (Water)
Feraligatr Charged Moves
- Hydro Cannon (Legacy Water)
- Hydro Pump (Water)
So, it looks like we’re running Shadow Claw (Fast), Hydro Cannon (Legacy Charged) and Ice Beam (Charged). Of the Fast moves, Shadow Claw generates the most energy per turn. Hydro Cannon is easily the most efficient Charged attack, acting as excellent Shield bait to spam the opponents with. Ice Beam is a high-energy coverage move, wrecking any Grass types that come up against it, covering one of its two weaknesses (the other being Electric). Only one of these moves gets STAB, but it’s worth it for the overall package.
Feraligatr performs very well in Great League, where it is currently a top-10 Pokémon, sitting just behind its Shadow variant. You can look forward to wins against Talonflame, Annihilape, Clodsire, Diggersby and Azumarill. Losses will come from Jumpluff, Mandibuzz, Galarian Corsola, Malamar and Shadow Drapion. This is a very respectable set of matchups.
In Ultra League, things shake out similarly, with regular Feraligatr holding the same spot in the current rankings, and Shadow Feraligatr being the second-best in the meta right now. Since you won’t be catching the Shadow during this event, we’ll focus on the regular. The wins will come from Skeledirge, Talonflame, Corviknight, Clefable and Giratina Altered. Losses will come from Cobalion, Guzzlord, Lickilicky, Tentacruel and Virizion.
Sadly, Feraligatr’s prowess falls off in Master League. Since regular Feraligatr isn’t even a top-10 for the type, there are clearly better options here.
В Pokémon Go сейчас проходит событие Deep Depths, которое приносит Никита и Тиевала в Pokémon Go! Однако сначала вам нужно посетить Power Spots, чтобы собрать Max Particles и выполнить квест To the Max!.
What do shiny Totodile and Feraligatr look like?
The opportunity to catch a shiny form of the highlighted Pokémon is one of the biggest draws of any Community Day event. This is thanks to the increased shiny rate for the event’s highlighted Pokémon, along with the fact that Community Days often release a new shiny into the wild. In this case, we have an old shiny making a comeback, having made its debut in February 2019’s Community Day event.
Sadly, as much as we love Feraligatr, we have to admit that this family of shinies is underwhelming… You can catch a glimpse of them below (Note: you may want to turn your speakers down or put it on mute).

Shiny Totodile + All Evolutions Reaction — 771 Eggs — Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Смотреть на YouTube
Thanks to YouTuber That Bald Gamer for the preview!
As you can see, shiny Totodile is covered in algae and has gone a little green. While we appreciate that some crocodiles green, none of them are, luminous green. ‘Look at me, I’m nature’s fiercest predator, a literal dinosaur and I glow in the dark…’ Again: Croco-hell-naw.
Talking of, while we appreciate shiny Croconaw’s blue mohawk, the toxic green really isn’t our vibe. The same goes for shiny Feraligatr. It really feels like they did our boi dirty.
If you want to evolve shiny Totodile, we recommend waiting until after the event, where you will have until five hours (until 10pm local time) to evolve it into a shiny Feraligatr and gain the exclusive move Hydro Cannon. Normally this is where we’d say this gives you have ample time to catch a couple of shiny Totodile, along with enough Candy to evolve the best ones, without having to worry about sorting through your collection while catching them. However, as mentioned, the move is bad and you probably want to TM it away when you get the chance, so don’t worry too much if you don’t get round to evolving it on Community Day!
Remember, it’s always a good idea to check your shiny Totodile’s stats, because it might have perfect IVs — making it even better for battle!
Other Totodile Community Day bonuses
Community Days in Pokémon Go always come with a string of bonuses, and Totodile Community Day is no different.
A full list of Totodile Community Day Classic bonuses can be found below — remember, because this is a ‘Classic’, the bonuses are less generous than usual:

- Increased spawns
- Increased shiny rate
- Quarter Egg hatch distance
- 3-hour Incense duration (excluding Daily Adventure Incense)
- 3-hour Lure duration (excluding Golden Lures)
- Photobombs — Take a snapshot of your buddy to earn a surprise encounter with Totodile (and increase your Cameraman medal) up to five times during the event.
- Полевые исследования — Spin Pokéstops to get event-exclusive tasks, similar to previous Community Day events. This is likely to be ‘Catch 3 Totodile’ for a couple of Great Balls or Ultra Balls, Stardust, or a Totodile encounter.
- Специальное исследование — For $1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you can take part in the exclusive Totodile Special Research story, Totodile Community Day Classic (yes, that’s the zero-effort name they came up with).
- Exclusive move — Evolve Totodile during the event or up to five hours afterward to get a Feraligatr that knows the Charged attack Hydro Cannon (until 10pm local time).
We hope you enjoy Totodile’s Community Day, and good luck finding a perfect shiny!
