Pokémon Legends Z-A Post Game: What do after beating the game

Judge IVs, legendary Pokémon, a new Mega Evolution and more!

Достигнув Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s post game is worth the effort, because there’s still a lot to do in Lumiose City!

There’s a new Wild Zone, legendary Pokémon to catch, the Infinite Z-A Royale, upgraded shop stocks and more. You should also take the time to complete your Pokédex too. That’s a pretty important job in any Pokémon game, let alone Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

So look below to take a look at everything found within the Pokémon Legends: Z-A post game, along with some ideas on what you could do after completing the game.

Pokémon Legends Z-A Post Game

Here’s everything you’ve unlocked or can unlock in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s post game:

Free Lucario

After reaching the post game of Legends: Z-A, you’ll find that AZ has left you a Lucario! It can be found inside its Poké Ball on the table in your hotel room. If you check Lucario’s summary, you’ll discover it was originally caught by Korrina — the Fighting-type Gym Leader of Shalour City in Pokémon X and Y.

I’m putting this at the top, because it’s actually quite easy to miss and that’s due to how there’s barely a reason to return to your hotel room in the post game. (There’s Pokémon Center’s everywhere after all.) So take the time to return to your hotel room and grab this free Pokémon.

Judge Function for IVs

Completing the Legends: Z-A’s main campaign unlocks the Judge Function. Just like in the past Pokémon games, this allows you to check the IVs (Individual Values) for each of a Pokémon’s main stats.

To Judge a Pokémon’s IVs, you need to visit their stats page. Once there, press down on the right analogue stick to see their IVs. This will cause a rating to appear beneath each stat which relates back to their IV.

Here’s the IV each rating is connected to:

More Main Missions

Even though you’ve watched the credits, Legends: Z-A’s story still isn’t quite finished and you’ve got some more Main Missions to progress through. Namely — Main Mission 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42. It’s definitely worth continuing this storyline as doing so will unlock a number of the activities you can experience in the postgame!

Дикая зона 20

Wild Zone 20 is unlocked after completing Main Mission 38 — ‘The Future of Lumiose City’ in the game’s post game. This Wild Zone is definitely worth visiting as it continues both the Kanto starters and Z-A’s own starter Pokémon. Perfect for completing your Pokédex!

Check out our dedicated Wild Zone 20 guide to learn all about the Pokémon and items which can be found inside it. Just keep in mind that the Alpha Pokémon rotate, so you will most likely see different ones every time you visit.

Infinite Z-A Royale

The Infinite Z-A Royale is also unlocked after you’ve completed Main Mission 38. This works exactly the same as the main campaign’s Battle Royale with three main differences. Firstly, there will be multiple Battle Zones and there will also be new Battle Zone locations for you to explore. Thirdly, instead of Promotion Matches, you have Reward Matches.

These Reward Matches are started by talking to the man standing to the left of the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange after collecting enough Battle Points. You’ll then face a randomly selected past trainer. Once you win the match, you’ll earn a selection of rewards.

It’s worth progressing through the Infinite Z-A Royale as it will unlock a new Side Mission and…

Get Eternal Flower Floette and Floettite

The main reason why you want to partake in the Infinite Z-A Royale, however, is to obtain Eternal Flower Floette and the Floettite Mega Stone. This will occur after you’ve won 15 Reward Matches in the Infinite Z-A Royale. Eternal Floette is also the only Floette who can Mega Evolve, so make sure you grab this Pokémon to complete your Mega Pokédex!

Catch Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde

Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde are the Gen 6 Legendary Pokémon and make up the Aura Trio. Upon reaching the Legends: Z-A post game, you’ve most likely noticed that haven’t had the chance to catch these Legendaries yet (especially Zygarde). Don’t worry though! Progressing through the post game Main Missions will give you the chance to finally add them to your Legends: Z-A Pokédex.

To break it down, you need to:

  • Выполните основную миссию 38 — «Будущее города Люмиос».
  • Complete your first battle in the Infinite Royale.
  • Return to Hotel Z.
  • Complete Main Mission 40 — ‘The One That Gives’ by catching Xerneas.
  • Complete Main Mission 41 — ‘The One That Takes’ by catching Yveltal.
  • Return to Hotel Z.
  • Defeat the trainer awaiting you (Lysandre).
  • Complete Main Mission 42 — ‘To Keep the World in Balance’ by catching Zygarde.

It’s worth noting that while Xerneas and Yveltal are more akin to regular Pokémon battles, Zygarde is essentially a Rogue Mega Evolution battle. It’s hands down on the toughest fights in the game, so make sure you’re prepared.

Replay Rogue Mega Evolution Battles

Completing Main Mission 41 — ‘The One That Takes’ will unlock the ability to replay the past Rogue Mega Evolution battles by talking to Vinnie in Quasartico Inc. Be warned, these battles might be a little tougher than you remember…

That’s right, there’s even more Side Missions in the postgame of Legends: Z-A and they’re worth completing if you want some of the rewards they hold. Check out our complete Side Missions list to learn which ones are unlocked during the post game.

Pokémon Legends Z-A Post Game: What do after beating the game

What else can you do in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

Even after you’ve experienced everything Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s post game has to offer, there will most likely be a variety of tasks you still need to finish. If you don’t want to leave Lumiose City yet, there’s some activities you should consider doing:

Complete the Pokédex

Now that you’ve reached the post game, it’s time to complete the Legends: Z-A Pokédex! (Especially since this isn’t really possible until you’ve reached the post game.)

Wild Zone 20 will give the chance to catch any starter Pokémon you’re missing, while progressing through the Main Missions gives you the chance to catch the Gen 6 Legendaries. This also involves completing all of the Eevee evolutions. Don’t forget that you’ll need to do some Trade Evolution too, so check out our guide on the Trade Evolution Codes to make that a little easier.

It’s also worth completing the Mega Pokédex too, especially since you now have access to nearly every Mega Stone in the base game. (The Floettite for Eternal Floette does take a bit more work…)

Unlock the Master Ball

Completing the Pokédex will help you make good progress through the Requests for Mable’s Research. There are some non-catch-related tasks to complete and they’re worth doing too as, at Level 49, you’ll unlock the Master Ball.

The Master Ball is the best Poké Ball ever made and will instantly catch the Pokémon you toss it at. This makes it perfect for catching incredibly rare Pokémon like that Shiny you’ve been hunting for hours. I’d think carefully before using a Master Ball though as each one is incredibly rare…

Unlock the Shiny Charm

While we’re on the subject of Mable’s Research, you can also take the time to unlock the Shiny Charm. This is the final reward unlocked at Level 50, which means you’ll have to complete every Request. It’s an awful lot of work, but the Shiny Charm is worth it!

The Shiny Charm increases your odds of encountering Shiny Pokémon from 4096 to 1024. This is incredibly useful if you’re after a specific Shiny Pokémon or have finished your Pokédex, but still want a reason to catch Pokémon.

Hunt down and catch Shiny Pokémon

Once you’ve unlocked the Shiny Charm, it’s time to hunt down Shiny Pokémon! These Pokémon are incredibly rare, but, with the Shiny Charm on your side, your chances of finding them have been increased. Hopefully this will help you expand your Shiny collection beyond the free Shiny Mareep.

We’ve got a whole guide on Shiny Hunting, but the general rule is to make sure you’re stocked with Ultra Balls while trying to use the Z-A spawn system to your advantage. Successfully catching a Shiny unlocks the ability to change what that Pokémon’s Pokédex image looks like, so you make your complete Dex look even more special.

Hyper Training and building the perfect team

Just because you’ve reached the post game, doesn’t mean it’s time to go lax with your Pokémon training. In fact, now you have access to every Wild Zone, it’s now the ideal time to build the perfect team! Don’t forget to collect Bottle Caps so you can Hyper Train your Pokémon and upgrade moves to Plus Moves using Seed of Mastery. Both of these features can be found in the Justice Dojo. It’s also worth tracking down every TM hidden around Lumiose City!

Ранговые бои

Once you’ve built your dream team, it’s time to take them to the online Ranked Battles. Here you’ll battle real trainers from across the world to reach the Master Rank and unlock some useful rewards along the way! These rewards can even include new Mega Stones.

Keep in mind that competing in Ranked Battles does require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Collect every Colourful Screw to unlock every Canari Plush

Colourful Screws can be found across Lumiose City and, as you probably know by now, collecting them lets you unlock Canari Plush, with each one having a special bonus. If you’ve not done so already, dedicate time to finding every Colourful Screw to increase the power of these bonuses and, once you’ve collected 100 Colourful Screws, you’ll get a special Canari Plush for your hotel room.

Complete every Side Mission

There’s over a hundred Side Missions in Legends: Z-A and, since some are tied to the post game, it’s impossible to complete them all during the main campaign. Take the time to complete them all to unlock a variety of new items and features! The post game Side Missions offer some interesting battle challenges too.

Make your Trainer look perfect

Finally, you’ll most likely be quite (possibly incredibly) rich when you reach the post game in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This makes it the perfect time to go clothes shopping! And man, if there isn’t an awful lot of clothes shops to visit in Lumiose City. If you fancy it, take the time to find the perfect clothes for you without having to worry about finances.

We’ve got a complete clothing list if you want to know where every shop is. Don’t forget to unlock all of the hairstyles and colours either. You can start this by completing Side Mission 12 — ‘The Many Flowers of Flabébé’.
