One of the titles on The Game Awards 2025’s Most Anticipated Games list is confirmed to be a no-show at the event, meaning fans probably won’t be playing it in 2026.
The Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards is intended for titles that fans are excited about, with no specific release date. The 2025 award will almost certainly go to Grand Theft Auto 6, given the incredible demand for the game, even with all its delays.

One of the entries on the Most Anticipated Game list is The Witcher 4, which currently lacks a release date but likely won’t arrive until 2027 at the earliest. Those release dates may have been accurate, as CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has confirmed on Twitter/X that The Witcher 4 won’t be at The Game Awards 2025.
The Witcher 4 Won’t Have A Trailer At The Game Awards 2025

The Witcher 4 has already had one significant trailer that shows off its gorgeous world, as well as offering hints at what Ciri’s story will be, now that she has taken over the protagonist role from Geralt of Rivia.
It’s not too surprising to learn that The Witcher 4 won’t be at The Game Awards 2025, as it seems the game is a long way off. CD Projekt Red has (hopefully) learned its lesson from the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, so The Witcher 4 shouldn’t be rushed out the door.
It’s also in CD Projekt Red’s best interests to avoid Grand Theft Auto 6 at all costs. If Grand Theft Auto 6 does launch in November 2026, it makes sense to wait until after its launch, then promote The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards 2026 and position it as the next big title in the pipeline.
