It is customary that once every few years, a movie studio — in hopes of creating future success — will produce a sacrificial lamb of sorts, a high-budget fantasy film with a cast only most directors could dream of that exists purely to fail spectacularly at the box office. If you find this to be entirely unbelievable, then surely question why there is such a trend in fantasy that continues to this day.
It varies from film to film on the specifics of the failure — sometimes it’s a matter of poor script, sometimes overestimation of the audience turnout, sometimes the story just doesn’t appeal. Whatever the case was for Джек Гигантский Slayer, the film didn’t get the success it deserves, though it will get another chance to shine when it starts streaming on Netflix on April 1, via What’s On Netflix.
Based on the English fairy tale Джек и бобовый стебель, the story follows roughly the same general plot as this much-beloved bedtime story. Jack (Nicholas Hoult, Superman), a poor child living on a farm, takes his horse to the market and finds himself in possession of magic beans said to give access to the Kingdom of the Giants, which resides in the sky.
When Princess Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) runs away from her arranged marriage and ends up at Jack’s farm, the beans end up activating and taking the two to the supposed mythological world. There, Jack, along with the knight Elmont (Ewan McGregor) and the devious Lord Roderick (Stanley Tucci) work to rescue Isabelle from the giants and their leader, King Brahmwell (Bill Nighy).
An Underrated Film With Strong Praise From VFX Artists

VFX artists have praised the film for its design of the giants and the world they inhabit. They especially praised how the film managed to capture the strength and speed of such gargantuan monsters and make it so realistic.
