What is the Scarab of Protection?
The Scarab of Protection is a legendary amulet in Baldur’s Gate 3, which can be seen on an NPC in all three acts of the game. Being a legendary item similar to Caution Before the Seelie, it offers great benefits if you can get your hands on it.
The first ability on the Scarab of Protection is Spell Protection. This passive ability grants you advantage on saving throws against all spells. This will make it extremely difficult for enemies to hit you with spells during battle.
The second ability granted by the Scarab of Protection is Necromantic Evasion. This ability makes it so that any time you fail a saving throw against necromancy spells or spells cast on undead foes, you can use your reaction to succeed on the saving throw instead.
Who Has the Scarab of Protection?
If you are looking for the Scarab of Protection, you won’t need to go far. This is because Mizora is the one who is wearing it. Mizora is Wyll’s patron, who will appear before you after a few nights of having Wyll at your camp.
As part of Wyll’s quest, you will either have a positive interaction with Mizora the first time or a rather savage one where she transforms Wyll. Either way, you will be able to see the Scarab of Protection draped around her neck as part of her character design.
Mizora appears in all three acts of Baldur’s Gate 3, and you can even go so far as to romance her. During Act One, she will appear in your camp. In Act Two, she is captured and held in the Mindflayer Colony. Finally, in Act Three, she is below the audience chamber in Wyrm Rock Fortress.
Can You Get the Scarab of Protection?
While you can see the Scarab of Protection in Baldur’s Gate 3 and interact with the NPC who is wearing the legendary item, it is impossible to get your hands on it without modding the game or breaking it in some way.
If you attack Mizora, she will use the power of the amulet, but the item will not appear in her inventory if you defeat her. Likewise, you will not see the item in her inventory if you attempt to pickpocket her. Instead, her inventory will appear empty.
