After defeating the Tricephalos mission, Gladius, Beast of Night in Elden Ring Nightreign, a whole slew of new monsters will become available. While you still have to complete four of the different bosses before fighting the final boss, the first and most apparent mission happens to be the Gaping Jaw. This is a massive flying creature with quite the bite. Its horizontal head is one of the most horrifying designs we’ve seen, featuring serrated teeth and a dinosaur body. With that said, it’s also potentially one of the easier of the creatures you can face, but that doesn’t mean it won’t pose a serious threat to your 45-minute run.

Gaping Jaw ins one of the easier fights in Elden Ring Nightreign, but that’s not exactly saying much. This is a game filled to the brim with some of the most difficult FromSoftware bosses we’ve ever seen, although some of the most fun, as well. The Gaping Jaw is among the latter at the very least, as it offers a horrific creature that will not only take a big gaping bite out of your body, but electrocute you in the most fashionable way possible.
The biggest attack you will need to watch out for is the grab attack. It’s very difficult to see the telegraph, because Adel, the Gaping Jaw, will lift its head into the sky and then bring it down sharply with its mouth wide open. The problem is if you’re under him slashing away at his heels, you can easily get caught in this grab with little notice. As soon as you see the head go up, you should back off and strafe as much as possible. If you notice he is targeting you from a distance, immediately sprint to the right or left, because the hitbox on the grab itself can be surprisingly large. If you even touch the outside of its jaw it will count as getting hit.
The rest of his attacks in phase one aren’t too difficult to figure out. It’s mostly a leaping attack towards you, or a ground slam immediately in front of him. It’s the second phase that things become a lot more difficult. This is when the Adel will rip a hole in the sky and everything will light up purple. Like most transitions, you will need to run away to avoid the initial blast of the transition.
It will immediately become a lot more aggressive, having similar mechanics as the first phase but has a deadly charge attack that will sprint at one unlucky target. On top of this, whenever he slams his head into the ground, it will summon giant lines on the ground that will explode after a second, similar to Equilibrious Beast. Finally, every attack can no longer be simply blocked through, as his imbued element will now chip away at your health, so rolling is far more advised.
