Hollow Knight: Silksong is chock-full of secret hidden locations, nestled away in the far corners of the map. So I wouldn’t blame you if you completely missed the Putrified Ducts area. I mean, as soon as you enter Bilewater, it really makes you want to turn back and live out the rest of your life as a hermit in the Moss Grotto.
However, the Putrified Ducts are home to some really incredible upgrades that’ll take Hornet to the next level, from amazing tools, crucial keys and even a Pale Oil for upgrading your needle. It may be small, but this place has got everything (including horrendously frustrating enemies)!
So grab your Flea Brew and get ready for some exploring. Completing everything that this area has in store is truly going to test you.
How To Reach The Putrified Ducts

In reality, there are actually 2 key ways to reach this area, but both are certainly no joke. If you’re like me and tortured yourself up through Bilewater, you’ll end up face-to-face with Groal the Great, a fairly annoying boss fight, more so because of the lengthy run back than because of the actual battle itself.
After defeating him, you’ll gain access to the southern half of the Putrified Ducts.

However, if you wish to see all that this place has to offer, you’ll have to take the entrance from the Memorium area. Unless you complete the Lost Merchantquest and save Jubilana, this area is incredibly well hidden.
After crushing the Drapelord, you can continue east, взобраться на стену and break through the breakable spot to find a new passage.
Keep going to the right, through the large sewer area with the broken bridges. Watch out for Barnaks и Ductsuckers. You’ll get trapped in the hanging tendrils while the mossy beasts charge you down. And don’t get me started on the Spit Squits. Bane of my life, honestly.
Eventually, you’ll reach a large vertical chamber. The top right exit contains a Станция Беллвэй, while the middle left exit contains the area map. You’ll have to let a Barnak grab you to reach it, though!

If you enter from the Bilewater entrance, you’ll find a large hut sitting above the water in the south-western chamber. Inside sits the Huntress, who will task you with gathering the following items:

- Shredded Organs
- Skewered Organs
These organs can be acquired by killing any enemy with a certain type of tool. There are multiple tools for each organ, but the easiest are as follows: Seared Organs with the Кремневый сланец, Shredded Organs with the Зубчатое колесо and Skewered Organs with the Sting Shards.
Once you’ve collected all the meat, return to the Huntress, and she will give you the Longclaw tool, which is amazing when paired with the Crest of the Wanderer.

In the tunnel above the Huntress’ house, you can find the missing Slab key, the key of the Apostate. Turns out it wasn’t located in the Slab after all. I wasted far too much time searching there to no avail. Не будь похожим на меня.
In any case, this key will open the way to a secret boss, the First Sinner, где вы можете получить Rune Rage Silk Skill. In addition, you can also get a Mask Shard from the door near the top of the main vertical room.

Vog
You can find Vog, the Flea, by heading all the way across the large horizontal chamber, southeast of the Bellway Station. Once you reach the end, climb the platforms, double back on yourself and break through a hidden wall to reach the top level of the room. This route will lead upwards.
In the next room, head to the right and let yourself be grabbed by a barnak to reach a tricky platforming section. Keep using the Barnak’s to get higher and higher until you reach the chamber with Vog inside. This flea will sell you the locations of all other fleas. While this may not be cheap, it’s essential for the next section.
The Flea Games
You can relocate the fleas to the Pale Lake once you’ve visited the area and collected a total of 20 fleas, from a possible 30. However, if you want to trigger the event, you’ll need to return every single flea.
Once the party starts, you’ll have the chance to play 3 games. Achieving the high score here will reward you with a Бледное масло, which can be used to upgrade your Needle to its final, glorious form. The games and the scores to beat are as follows:
- Flea Juggle (30) — Use your needle to bounce the fleas up into the air. Hit each a total of 3 times to gain a single point.
- Flea Dodge (65) — Use the platforms provided to dodge the charging fleas. Each time a flea flies past, you’ll get 1 point.
- Flea Bounce (42) — Perform a downwards slash attack to bounce off the fleas and stay airborne for as long as possible.
Once you manage to get the high score in every category, there will be a celebration where you’ll be rewarded with rosaries and a Pale Oil. Well worth it, I reckon.

Когда у вас есть Silk Soar ability,head back to Fleatopia and keep heading right across the water. At a point, you’ll be able to climb the wall and find a little rocky outlook with a shaft of light beaming down. Soar up to find a mushroom section that looks straight out of the Fungal Wastes.
Here you’ll find a tablet with a poem, and you’ll be prompted to begin the Passing of the Age Wish. You might remember this as the Mister Mushroom hunt from the Previous Hollow Knight. Once you’ve talked to Mister Mushroom at his last location and watched him fly off, complete the game, and you’ll be granted a final cutscene and, of course, an achievement for your troubles.

Craftmetal
Once you reach Pale Lake, keep going as far as you can to the right. Eventually, you’ll reach a little room that contains a piece of Craftmetal at the end.
Guardian’s Memento
To receive the Guardian’s Memento, you’ll first need to beat Сет, who can be located just before the fight against Nyleth, west of the Grand Gate broken elevator.
Once you’ve beaten Seth, he will leave to explore Pharloom. You must find him in these locations before he moves to Fleatopia:
- Греймур
- Шеллвуд
- Гранд Гейт
Once you’ve met Seth in all of these areas, he will move to Fleatopia and set his own high scores in the Flea Games. Yep, that means you’ve got some more work to do.
Seth will have achieved a score of 55 in the Flea Juggle, 95 in Flea Dodge, and 68 in Flea Bounce. While you might not struggle beating Flea Dodge, Flea Bounce and Flea Juggle will surely test your patience and skill.
Once you beat his scores, talk to him, and he will give you the Guardian’s Memento. Return to your house in Bellhart to place it on your wall.

Return to the room where you were pulled up by the Barnak to get to Vog, and this time go east instead. You’ll find yourself in a large room with a broken-down building that seems reminiscent of the Pinstress and Seamstress’s houses in the Blasted Steps and Far Fields.
Grab the Wreath of Purity, which will allow you to get rid of those pesky silk-sapping maggots once per visit to a bench.
Rosary Room
Finally, once you’ve grabbed the wreath, go all the way to the left and jump up into the little gap in the western wall. Here you will find a small connection room with 3 rosary rocks, granting you a total of 80 rosaries. Continue left and break down the door to find yourself back in the main vertical chamber, just below the Bellway.
Once you’ve completed this final room, you’ll be finished with all that the Putrified Ducts has to offer. The only thing left to do is to kill a bunch of those annoying enemies to fill in the pages of your Hunter’s Journal. I reckon you’ll be glad to see the back of this putrid place!
