I feel that, in Hollow Knight: Silksong, some of the most memorable moments do not even come from mandatory bosses or quests, but from hidden tasks and little secrets scattered all over the map – and only those who are curious enough to explore everything will find these out.

So, in this guide, we will detail all the steps you need to take to get to Plasmified Zango and also the easiest way to defeat him. That way, you can enjoy this little secret without missing out on any of the experience!
How To Find the Plasmified Zango in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Plasmified Zango is hidden on the bottom left of Wormways, an optional and relatively small region of Pharloom. You can access it in Act 2 (after getting the Silk Claw) to meet Alchemist Zylotol and tackle his side quest, called “Alchemist’s Assistant”.
This quest will make you gather a blue substance called Plasmium (Zylotol’s brand-new and dangerous invention) in three different places, so I hope you did it.
Now, fast-forward to Act 3, and go back to the Wormways to find out that the place has been taken over by the Plasmium, resulting in different enemies and a lot of blue details in the scenario. The quickest way is to fast-travel to Shellwood, then head left to the Bone Bottom area and glide towards the left side – finally, enter the lower entrance of the region.
Keep walking left until you find a hole in the ground. Enter it and keep following towards the left side of the next area (careful with the enemies that will appear on the narrow corridors!). You will eventually reach a dead-end, where you gathered one of the three Plasmium in the “Alchemist’s Assistant” quest.
There, look for a breakable wall on the left side, which will lead you to the body of Zango, the original assistant of the Alchemist Zylotol. He got killed while gathering Plasmium (you can actually find his dead body in Act 2), but he is now alive somehow in Act 3 – in a zombified form.
Best Preparation For the Plasmified Zango Boss Fight
Zango came back to life due to the high level of Plasmium that was on his body, and, since the blue substance manages to give “extra life” to its porters, the Plasmified Zango is a very resistant boss, so attacking him as you normally would will not do much because he constantly heals himself.

Before taking a shot against the boss, head to the nearest Bench (which is the one right next to the Alchemist Zylotol) to equip some Tools that can maximize your overall damage.

However, have in mind that the path from the Bench to the boss’ arena has some dangerous (and annoying) enemies, and it will suck if you get killed on the way.
Oh, and you must know that we need to be really to the Plasmified Zango in order to deal as much damage as possible, so inevitably, you will take damage!

How To Beat the Plasmified Zango in Hollow Knight: Silksong
As mentioned in the previous section of this guide, facing the Plasmified Zango is not a normal boss fight – it is a “DPS test”.
What happens is that Zango is filled with Plasmium, so he constantly regenerates his health, meaning that you will only tickle him if you attack normally.
Curiously, his attacks are weird, since they do not seem to be aiming at Hornet. Instead, he will just walk around the room, back and forth, while throwing some Plasmium bubbles around him.
So, after equipping all the Tools we recommended, enter his arena and wait for him to head in your direction. Then, throw four Tacks on the floor and activate four Coglfies. As soon as he steps on the Tacks, you must immediately rush in his direction and start striking him.
Your focus is to deal as much damage as possible in little time – and you will know that it is working because the Plasmified Zango will get faster. He can even use a dash on the arena at this point, but simply jump to avoid it and continue to strike him.
If you lose health too quickly, dash away and heal as fast as possible. Then, run at him and start striking again. You can not give him time to regenerate his health. The key is to be really, really aggressive and give him no room to breathe. Good luck!
Rewards For Defeating the Plasmified Zango
Funny enough, there is no immediate reward for defeating the Plasmified Zango – or any other reward, as a matter of fact, only the pure satisfaction of finding him and putting him to rest.
But, hey, you can not deny that this is one of those moments in Hollow Knight: Silksong that makes you think that it is worth being curious and investigating every corner of the map.
