Animal Crossing New Horizons 3.0 Update and Switch 2 edition release date
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 edition and the 3.0 update will be released on Thursday 15th January, 2026. Yes, both will be available on the same day — so whether you purchase the new edition, or simply are waiting for the free update, there will be content for you to enjoy!
ACNH 3.0 update and Switch 2 edition release date:

Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch 2 edition price
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 edition будет стоить 54.99 фунтов стерлингов (or the equivalent pricing in your region) for both the digital or physical versions of the full game. The digital version will be available on the Nintendo eShop.
However, if you already own New Horizons on your original Switch then you can buy the Switch 2 upgrade pack for £4.19 (or the equivalent pricing in your region.) This saves you paying out for the entire game again, and will instead upgrade your current version to the Switch 2 one.

Everything new in the Animal Crossing New Horizons 3.0 update
Here’s everything included as part of the free 3.0 update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons:
- Resetti’s Reset Service
- Kapp’n’s Resort Hotel
- Dream World and Slumber Islands
- Модернизированное хранилище
- LEGO Items
- Zelda Items and Amiibo
- Splatoon Items and Amiibo
- NES and Gameboy games, Nintendo Consoles and Retro Toys
Resetti’s Reset Service
Most veteran Animal Crossing players know Resetti, either through fearing his appearance and long lectures, or through finding them the most relatable character in-game. Either way, love or loathe him, Resetti is now providing a Reset Service — so don’t worry, you’re not going to get shouted at for forgetting to save!
In the 3.0 update you can use Resetti’s Reset Service to remove trash and flowers from an area on your island. You can either dispose of them straight into the garbage, or you can put the good items into storage.

Kapp’n’s Resort Hotel
Head to the end of your pier to find that Kapp’n’s family have decided to move on from Tortimer Island in New Leaf and have set up a brand new Resort Hotel on your island!
Inside the hotel you’ll be tasked with decorating guest rooms to match specific themes, which is similar to how the Happy Home Paradise DLC works. When decorating a room, you’ll be given furniture that matches the theme and you’ll also be able to use any pieces you’ve already collected.
After completing a room you’ll get Hotel Tickets as a reward. This is another in-game currency which you can use at Gram’s Souvenir Shop. Bells cannot be spent here, any items Gram stocks can only be bought with Hotel Tickets. Also, Gram will have items you can’t get any other way.

Of course, Tom Nook isn’t one to miss out on a potential profit (or forcing you to do the work he really doesn’t want to do but makes it seem like he’s doing a favour.) There’s a bulletin board that Nook will post on, he’ll request that you make custom items and you can then exchange them for Hotel Tickets.
Also, Hotel Tickets have another use. They can be used to get Nintendo-themed items and classic games — but more on that later.
If that wasn’t enough, there are also mannequins at the front of Gram’s Souvenir shop that you can dress up in different clothing. These will then create Hotel Outfits, which any guest of the Resort Hotel will wear in the hotel itself or when they’re out and about on your island. Also, yourself and visiting players can wear them as well.

Also, you can scan Amiibo cards for Animal Crossing characters to bring them in as guests for your resort Hotel.
Dream World and Slumber Islands
There’s a new Dream World option you can pick when going to sleep. Rest in a bed and select the ‘It’s slumber time’ to get started. Dream World will provide three new save files for Slumber Islands — which are essentially extra islands you can customise and decorate how you see fit while you sleep, all without affecting your current island.
You can even select different island sizes and shuffle the basic layouts before getting started. Once you pick a Slumber Island, you can decorate it to your heart’s content with any items you’ve unlocked in your own island for free. Even inclines, bridges, changing time of day and choosing your villagers are free to use!

Don’t want to decorate alone? Make it a decorating party! Your friends can come along and help personalise your Slumber Island — everyone can work together to customise the space.
Модернизированное хранилище
Ever run out of storage for all the things you collect but don’t want to sell? Me too. But we no longer have to fear throwing away that random piece of furniture bought on impulse but really has no place in any room currently.
The 3.0 update brings a significant upgrade to your storage capacity, increasing it from 5,000 items to 9,000 items. You can now also store Shrubs and Trees too.

LEGO Items
If you too have been trying to save your shelves from more LEGO items, then fear not as LEGO-themed furniture and clothing items will be coming as part of the 3.0 update. You can purchase these through the Catalog at Nook’s Cranny and all of them will be purchasable with Bells.

Zelda Items and Amiibo
If LEGO wasn’t enough, how about a bit of The Legend of Zelda too? You can use any The Legend of Zelda Amiibo you have to access clothing and items themed around the iconic game series.
Эти предметы включают:
- Зеленая рупия
- Синяя рупия
- Красная рупия
- Сердце
- Окарина
- Мастер меч
- Гилианский щит
- Triforce
- Zonai Authentication Crest
No Amiibo? No problem! Mineru and Tulin have been added as visiting villagers that can appear at your Campsite!

Splatoon Items and Amiibo
Yet another collaboration arrives in 3.0! Splatoon items will be available from the Catalogue at Nook’s Cranny, and if you use any Splatoon Amiibo you’ll invite Cece and Viche to your island. These are two characters whose design has been inspired by Splatoon characters.

NES and Gameboy games, Nintendo Consoles and Retro Toys
Remember Hotel Tickets? Well here we are again. If you speak to Grams at her Souvenir shop in the Resort Hotel you can use the new currency to buy Nintendo-themed items including:
- Нинтендо Переключатель 2
- РЭШ
- Game Boy
- Famicom
- Famicom Disc System
- Супер Фамиком
- Любовь тестер
- Ультра машина
- ультра рука
But, wait for it, the available consoles are not just decorative items to shove in another corner of your already stuffed house. You can play the games on them if you’ve got a Switch Online membership.
So far, we know that Clu-Clu Land and Ice Climbers is available on NES, and Dr. Mario is on the Game Boy console.

Everything included in Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch 2 edition
Alongside the 3.0 update, you can look forward to the following improvements in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 edition:
- Мультиплеер для 12 игроков
- Мегафон
- Управление мышью
- Улучшенное разрешение
Мультиплеер для 12 игроков
If you’ve got an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription you can play with up to 12 players in one town through online multiplayer. However, anyone you wish you play with must also have the Switch 2 edition for this to be possible.
You can use GameChat to keep up with up to 12 players in a single session, and you can even use the Switch 2 camera too.

Мегафон
The Megaphone is back! After being available in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and arguably one of the funniest tools in Animal Crossing, it’s making a comeback as part of the ACNH Switch 2 edition. You can buy it from Nook’s Cranny for 3,500 Bells.
The Megaphone tool can be used to locate villagers by calling their name into the built-in microphone on the Switch 2. After you call out a name, the villager will reply and this will appear as a speech bubble on your screen. This speech bubble will be located in the direction the villager currently is — if you follow it you can find the villager you’re looking for!

Управление мышью
Ever miss the intricate details you could do on custom designs? Me too — but now we don’t need to! The Switch 2 edition of Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduces mouse controls which can be used in the Custom Designs app on your NookPhone or for hand-writing notes on your bulletin board.
Also, mouse controls can be used when decorating your house. You can (finally) select multiple pieces of furniture at once — which is useful if you want to move several items at once without messing up their alignment.

Улучшенное разрешение
Finally, owners of the ACNH Switch 2 edition will be treated to an improved resolution in both TV and Handheld mode. The framerate is capped at 30 FPS, compatible TVs will be able to experience the game in 4K.

That’s all for now! So it’s time to get your island in order, for the 3.0 update and Switch 2 edition are on their way.
