Like pretty much every gamer, I have been playing (and getting addicted to) Rockstar Games titles since I was a kid. Iconic franchises – such as GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Bully, and Manhunt – became quite important to me as a video game fan.

One of the things I love the most about their games is how full of references and Easter eggs they are! Sometimes, they’re just fun little details, but other times, they make us all wonder if these distinct worlds might somehow be connected.

And we already have a bunch of theories about that. Some call it a “multiverse”, suggesting the developers intentionally created separate timelines to explain differences between games. Others, however, are more ambitious and are convinced that everything happens within one massive shared universe – and even that some characters reappeared in different titles.

Rockstar has never officially confirmed any kind of connection, of course (because maybe they are just having fun throwing in winks for fans like me to obsess over). But that’s exactly why I love this kind of stuff; because it makes us theorize and replay their games, looking for one more clue we might have missed.

So let’s take a look at some of the most interesting Rockstar Games Easter eggs that might hint these worlds are more connected than we think.

9 Let The Freak Show Begin

Bearded Woman And Siamese Sisters In GTA and RDR

One of the weirdest sections in Bully is entering the Freak Show, a small tent inside the carnival, where you can find some eccentric people, such as the Skeleton Man, a Mermaid, and others. Two of them, though, are actually connected to Grand Theft Auto’s and Red Dead Redemption’s worlds.

Если вы наберете 555-013 # in GTA 5 (or even GTA Online), you will hear a fun jingle – the same one that plays on the TV that the Fat, Ugly, Bearded Woman is watching at the Bully’s Freak Show.

But this reference gets even creepier. The Siamese Sisters (named Delilah and Jezebel) are also part of the Freak Show, and you can actually find two conjoined skeletons inside a crashed wagon in Red Dead Redemption 2. Although they are not the same color, their dresses are pretty similar.

8 Welcome to Carcer City

Different Worlds, Same City

If you are a true GTA fan and spend thousands of hours playing the franchise, you probably stumbled a few times upon some characters, newspapers, or even radio stations mentioning a place called Carcer City – which is the grim setting for Manhunt.

The city appears in some GTA 3’s news reports (since it is filled with crimes), in a radio commercial in the old-time classic GTA San Andreas, and is mentioned as the place where Michael’s first heist took place in GTA 5.

Well, Carcer City is definitely not a place we would like to visit, but its constant mention certainly made some players think that GTA and Manhunt exist in the same reality, which is pretty exciting.

7 Sequel: The Movie

RCU: “The Rockstar Cinematic Universe”

While walking through Old Bullworth Vale in Bully, you can see that there’s a weirdly fun film playing in the movies – it is called “Sequel: The Movie”.

If that was not enough to make you laugh a bit, maybe this will: in GTA 5, you can find a pretty similar film playing at the movies on Morningwood Boulevard. Coincidentally (or not), it is called “Sequel II”, which certainly rings a bell since it looks like the sequel to “Sequel: The Movie”.

Maybe they are part of a series of movies (and consequently from the same universe), and we will get to see a “Sequel: The Trilogy” in the upcoming GTA 6? I know I will root for that!

6 Jimmy Hopkins in Liberty City?

Chaos Caused By A Blue Vest

I feel that when GTA 4 was first launched, many players (including myself) were still emotionally attached to Bully because, soon after, weird reports started appearing on gaming forums, claiming that some players had spotted Jimmy wandering around Liberty City – or someone very similar to him, wearing a Bullworth blue vest.

However, we are talking about gaming forums in the 2000s, so these reports were nothing more than blurry videos and screenshots, which didn’t exactly help to maintain the authenticity of these claims.

In any case, they surely showed a rather blurry boy wearing a blue vest in the middle of the streets of Liberty City, which was enough to add a bit of mystery to GTA 4, whether that was a nod to Jimmy (or a student from Bullworth) or not.

5 Starkweather in Bullworth

A Villain We Will Never Forget

Bully was not the only game to supposedly appear in the streets of another Rockstar title, since it may also have a bit of Manhunt attached to its open-world map.

People say that if you listen (very) ly while walking through New Coventry (near where the greasers group is), you might overhear some NPCs mentioning someone named “Starkweather” – and fans immediately connected that to Lionel Starkweather, the antagonist from Manhunt.

It is quite a small, easy-to-miss reference, but also one that makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Both Bully and Manhunt portray humanity’s darker side, just in very different ways, so it could really be the same Starkweather? Who knows?

4 Bullworth’s Motto Goes West

“Canis Canem Edit”

In Bully, the Bullworth Academy has a Latin motto that goes “Canis Canem Edit”, which means “dog eats dog” (which perfectly sums up the game’s story, right?), and it is also the official title for the game in Europe.

And you can actually spot this motto in Red Dead Redemption 2, where the same phrase is engraved on a revolver, making Bullworth echo all the way back to the Old West. The gun we’re talking about is the Calloway’s Revolver, a nice and unique Schofield Revolver.

Oh, and it gets better: this is actually Jim Boy Calloway’s gun – and Bully’s protagonist is called “Jimmy boy” a lot at Bullworth. Whether it is meant as a deeper lore hint of the family that ended up founding the school or just an Easter egg, it definitely is a poetic reminder that these Rockstar worlds are built on the same philosophy: Survival of the fittest.

3 A Book by “J. Marston”

The World Is In Your Book This Time

As a huge Red Dead Redemption fan, I still remember the day that I found a fascinating detail at Franklin’s house in GTA 5, which is a tiny book titled “Red Dead”. I didn’t even have time to scream, because I was already reading the next words on the spine, which were even more fascinating – “By J. Marston”.

Many fans (including myself) believe this could really have been written by Jack Marston, John’s son, who might have become a writer after the events of the original Red Dead – in a very Bilbo Baggins style.

Oh, and let’s not forget that GTA 5 also features streets named after locations from the Red Dead series, such as Armadillo Avenue и Клубничный проспект. So maybe the Wild West simply evolved into the modern-day world of GTA, since it is quite common for streets to be named after historical places, figures, and events.

2 Hey, Pig, Piggy, Pig, Pig, Pig

The Famous Piggsy Theory

9 Rockstar Games Easter Eggs That Hint at a Shared Universe

I know it is quite complicated, but if you look around the Happy Volts Asylum in Bully, you can find a creepy photo of a pig, alongside the saying “PIGGY”.

Since we are talking about an item that we found in a terrifying psychiatric hospital and a specific reference to a pig, many players think that this means that Пиггси, the chainsaw-wielding man in a pig mask from Manhunt, was actually here at some moment.

Another detail that helps maintain that theory is that you can hear some chainsaw sounds and pig squeals coming from a weird house near Zoe’s place. Maybe… Piggsy (or a copycat) is inside?

Whether he is or not is up to your imagination at this point, but I have to confess that this is one of my favorite Rockstar Easter eggs since it makes a lot of sense and is creepy as hell!

1 Bullworth Commercial on TV

It Seems That GTA 4 Loves Bully

9 Rockstar Games Easter Eggs That Hint at a Shared Universe

Last but definitely not least, we have the famous Bullworth commercial in GTA 4. This is probably one of the most well-known Easter eggs in Rockstar Games’ titles – since it is the strongest one in the whole “same universe or multiverse” theory.

Basically, you can perfectly watch a commercial that presents the entire front of Bullworth Academy (with its logo) in an episode of the in-game reality show “I’m Rich”.

The school is shown as one of the elite schools where the children of Liberty City’s richest residents study (which is weird and probably a lie), but it could actually be proof of Bullworth existing in the GTA universe… if you want it to be, of course!
