Then there was Meruem, the single best villain in all of Охотник х охотник. On some levels, he was just another turbocharged monster for shonen heroes to fight, but he had more depth than that. Meruem was a rogue son who killed his ant queen mother while seeking his own place in the world by force, and he was also hopelessly intrigued and enamored by Komugi as she played Gungi with him. Her act brought out Meruem’s human side, despite his monstrous nature.
